Jamshedpur, July 21, 2026: As part of its Ethics Month 2026 celebrations, Tata Steel organized a Media Engagement Session with editors and journalists of Jamshedpur on the theme “One Code, One Commitment: Unified by the Code.” The programme was organized by the Tata Steel Corporate Communication Department with the support of the Tata Steel Ethics Department and TSUISL.
Every year, Tata Steel observes Ethics Month in July to commemorate the birth month of J.R.D. Tata, whose unwavering commitment to integrity and ethical business practices continues to inspire the organization. This year’s theme reinforces the importance of a common Code of Conduct that unites employees and stakeholders across geographies in upholding the highest standards of ethics, fairness, and integrity.
Atul Bhatnagar, Managing Director, TSUISL, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Soni Sinha, Chief Ethics Counsellor, Tata Steel, attended as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Atul Bhatnagar underscored the importance of ethical conduct and responsible communication in building trust and credibility, highlighting that values-driven actions remain fundamental to sustaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Soni Sinha emphasized that ethics is not merely a compliance requirement but a shared commitment that guides decision-making and strengthens organizational culture. She noted that the Code serves as a common foundation for responsible conduct across the Tata Steel ecosystem.
The session commenced with an interactive discussion on ethical dilemmas faced by journalists. A specially curated Ethics Quiz for Media tested participants’ understanding of ethics, current affairs, and responsible journalism. The programme also featured an insightful session by Jai Prakash Rai, Editor, Chamakta Aaina, on ethical dilemmas in corporate reporting.
